Museum Day

Woke up this morning, and wandered around Plaza del Sol for a bit looking for breakfast, and decided that where we ate yesterday was worth a return visit.

While it's only a block away from the touristy Plaza del Sol, there don't seem to be many tourists here. Or, rather, it's crowded, and it seems like all locals - which is a definite good sign. The food is outstanding.

After breakfast, we charged on over the the Museo Prado, which serves as the national museum for Spain for everything they have prior to the birth of Picasso in the late 1800's. This place is full of Velazquez, Goya, El Greco, not to mention a ton of Roman and Greek statues that are all around 2000 years old. We pretty much went through every gallery, which took around 3 hours.

Then we followed that up by touring the Reina Sofia, which is the museum of modern art, primarily famous for Picasso's works, the most famous of which is Guernica.

There was also quite a bit of Dali here, as could be expected.

So now it's about 7PM, and my feet are killing me. Time to soak them in the hot tub for a while, then figure out what to do for dinner.

Buenos Tardes!

  1. Sounds like you've got it down now. Breakfast sounds fab; can't wait to hear about dinner. Buen apetito. (I guessed at that; hope I was close.)
